Satadru Sovan is a distinguished multi-disciplinary Indian NFT artist, Fulbright Scholar, PhD Scholar, multi-disciplinary and behavioral artist, curator, and the founder and director of HDBOX. He is also the founder of the International Behavioural Art Festival. His artistic expertise spans across canvas art, digital art, installations involving light, and performance art. He has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Fulbright Scholar from the Digital Arts and New Media (DANM) program in California, USA. Satadru's work is housed in both private collections and museums worldwide.
His recent series explore simultaneous themes of ecological degradation and gender-based practices in visual arts. These highly aesthetic paintings, characterized by bold and evocative colors, address the crisis of species extinction in a non-linear fashion. Satadru juxtaposes images of long-vanished flora and fauna with those currently under threat, compelling viewers to contemplate humanity's invasive impact on the global ecosystem.
One of his notable recent works, "TECHNÉ DISRUPTORS," was among the first art, tech, and NFT exhibitions from the Global South with a focus on South Asia. This exhibition was showcased at the High Line Nine Gallery in New York, USA. Currently, Satadru is collaborating with Dubai and Singapore-based platform The Upside Space for the inaugural launch of the 'DESH: Homelands collection of NFTs online.
Satadru has exhibited his work internationally, including at prestigious venues such as the Lincoln Centre in New York, The Museum of Art and History (MOMA) in Santa Cruz, the Schema Art Museum in Korea, and the Cheongju Contemporary Art Museum in Malaysia. His work has also been showcased in various countries including the USA, Bulgaria, South Korea, Hong Kong, South Africa, Vietnam, Iran, and Germany. Additionally, he has participated in Biennales in Iran, The Cheongju International Craft Biennale, the Bodhgaya Biennale, THAT ART FAIR in Cape Town, the Cheongju International Art Fair in South Korea, Johannesburg Art Fair in South Africa, the United Art Fair in Delhi, Art Expo in Malaysia, and the Indian Art Fair.
Throughout his career, Satadru has conducted numerous performances and workshops across the globe, including in the US, China, Vietnam, South Korea, South Africa, the Philippines, Mongolia, Minyama, Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, and Bangladesh. He is the founder and director of Hexxydexxybox, an international performance platform, and the International Behavioural Art Festival. Satadru is also a board member of The Lock Unlock Performance Art Project initiative, the Transnational Coalition for the Arts, and participates in the Artistic Research Working Group gathering of Performance Studies International (PSi). Additionally, he serves as the Brand Ambassador for the Worldwide Peace Marker Project collective in the USA.
His extensive list of national and international achievements includes 11 solo shows in Mexico, Korea, Vietnam, and the USA (including Michigan City and Santa Cruz, California), 6 museum shows (including the Lincoln Centre in New York City, MOMA in Santa Cruz, Schema Art Museum in Korea, and in Chongqing, China), 25 artist residencies (in countries such as the USA, China, Cheongju, Korea, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Nepal, South Africa, and Northern California), participation in 6 Biennales (in Iran, Korea, and Athens), 7 art fairs, and 54 art performances in 26 different nations.
